Payment

Since we are committed to providing you with the best possible service, when you shop online, we use the SSL security certificate and your payments are secured by Crédit Mutuel's 3D Secure.

> Concretely, how are your banking data protected on the site?

At Institut Kallista, payment for your order by credit card is made directly to our partner bank. Providing your credit card number to the bank server when paying for your purchase is completely secure. This process carries no risk, as your credit card details are never transmitted unencrypted over the network. They are also encrypted using the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol.

Kallista Institute does not have access to your contact information and does not store it on its servers. This is why you are asked for it again for each new transaction on our site.

> What is SSL?

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a certificate that uses encryption to secure the connection between a website visitor and a website server. In other words, it's like a digital ID card.

This SSL protocol is notably identifiable by the https visible in the address bar of your web browser and by the padlock that precedes it. These two elements therefore attest that a site or an application is inevitably secure.

> And what about 3D Secure?

Indeed, in addition to the SSL security certificate, Institut Kallista secures your payments using 3D Secure.

The most effective means of protection against internet fraud, this system asks you for additional information in addition to your bank card details in order to prove that the buyer is the owner of the bank card.

The authentication process involves asking you for an additional secret code at the time of payment which has either been predefined between you and your bank, or received in real time on your mobile by SMS at the time of payment (sent by your bank to your phone number predefined with them).

The goal of 3D-Secure is to:

  • Reducing fraud for e-merchants.
  • Secure online payments on the customer side.

3D-Secure is a banking authentication service for our customers, which improves the security of online card transactions. Using a bank card online is then secured by additional authentication.

When making a secure payment, you'll be prompted to enter your credit card details and then confirm your payment. After confirming your bank details, you'll be automatically redirected to another secure page of your bank. Additional information will be requested, such as the customer's date of birth or a personal PIN provided by your bank in advance.

For a payment to be 3D-Secure, the buyer's card must be 3D-Secure. Almost all newly manufactured bank cards are now 3D-Secure. In the medium term, all customers will be equipped with 3D-Secure cards.

You can obtain this certification for your current card by simply requesting it from your bank (sometimes, however, the signing of an amendment to the contract may be requested).

Here are the banks whose requested information is known (non-exhaustive and evolving list):

  • BNP: Date of birth
  • Savings Bank: Date of birth
  • Société Générale: Date of birth
  • HSBC: Date of birth
  • Crédit Agricole: Code to create for a first purchase
  • Crédit Mutuel: 4-digit code provided by the bank
  • CIC: Identifier and 4-digit code provided by the bank
  • LCL: Mixture of numbers and letters (6 to 10 characters) to be created during a first purchase by answering a question asked by LCL

Therefore, in case of incorrect authentication of the 3D-Secure service, the payment will not be confirmed.

Also, lastly, if the payment method by credit card does not suit you, you can choose to pay on our site by bank transfer, check or PayPal.
